Stepping across the threshold as the door opened wider, Kokonoe wasted no time and made a beeline for the fridge; propping it open as she opened the cardboard box, placing each can inside carefully. Nothing was worse than a beer that had been shook up.
“They’re already cold.” She slid one across the counter to Naoto, keeping another out for herself. Bumping the door shut with her hip, she turned towards the other woman and lifted her can up with a smirk. “So uh, cheers.” Popping the tab, she took a swig; the fur on her tails standing out from the bitter flavour. “Yup, just like I remembered.”
[ There was a nod of thanks, before opening her can and taking a swig, face not reacting openly to the taste. ‘Not bad.’ Another sip, and she turns to lean back against the counter, watching the visitor as carefully as she could without weirding her out. ]
Tastes better than I expected.
[ So far the experience was already going better, she wasn’t in a noisy crowded place and she wasn’t having to drink a horrible tasting liquid. That night was one she wanted to forget. Information doesn’t come easy, and she had to, as they say, ‘get in with the boys’. For her, this was an oddly refreshing change. ]
The smile widened just a tad when the door opened and she lifted the case of beer, tapping it with her opposite hand lightly. “Well, y’know. Since you’re a friend of Badou’s and all, I figured I should welcome you properly into this hell hole.”
“And nothing says welcome to the neighborhood like getting drunk off your fucking ass. Not really sure if one case of beer’s gonna do it, but I’m game to try it out if you are.”
[ She looked at the case with an inquisitive look before shuffling backwards, letting Kokonoe in. She’d never been drunk before, unless the one time she had alcohol and felt like pure shit counted. Weirdly, a little part of her hoped for something more than that. For the pure generosity that this gesture signified, she decided to go along with it and see how it went. It couldn’t end that badly, right?… ]
Kicking the door open to her trailer, Kokonoe took the steps two at a time; landing on the ground with a soft thump. Glancing around, she vaguely recalled where her destination was and began to walk, a case of beer swinging to and fro as she moved.
For once, she was in a decent mood, and almost smiled as she knocked on the door to the trailer E-3. “Oi. Naoto… are you in?”
[ Unusually, she was still in her trailer, pondering her next course of action. That is, until, Kokonoe came knocking at the door. She recognised the voice so opened it without hesitation, nodding just once and glancing at the case. ]
Hello, Kokonoe. Why are you here?
*It was easier when agreed, yes. And Shiki only grew more and more interested at the girl, for she had a similar look in her eyes. Similar to his. Maybe this was the reason why he was taking his time talking to Naoto. Plus the necessity to get information.*
I have recently arrived. The only thing I know is that they took my sword, and this definitely is not Japan.
Nature still exists here. So would you explain me where are we?
A circus. I’ve been told many times there is no way out; I have even searched myself.
[ a quick shake of the head, then she continues. ]
There’s a man, the Ringmaster. He has my sword, probably yours too. We have to… ‘please’ him. We’re here for his amusement.
[ she looks down for a moment, then returns his gaze, jaw set. you get the distinct impression she isn’t pleased in the slightest about this arrangement, yet she is, for now, powerless to change the circumstances. however, the more people she meets, the more reassured she becomes that somehow they could get out of this mess, alive. ]
